BAKER
Sitting down with BAKER was cool in a few respects. It was great to get to know the artist that is BAKER, and talk about the NE OHIO/Ytown music scene as well. We listened to a few of his songs off his EP “From California” and checked out tracks by Ceschi and “Contrails” by Astronautilis. (feat Tegan Quin from Tegan & Sara) You can connect with BAKER @ https://twitter.com/BakerStayBaked
“What I do is based in Hip-Hop; it has the 808 drums and rapping, but I don’t fall into the box of a rapper.” – Baker

Pt2: The next BAKER LP and Youngstown
It was cool talking about Hip-Hop yesterday & today, as well as the ins/outs of getting your music out there. Self distribution & CDR dropping can’t hurt.
“I like beer, juice and coffee. I rap, or something like it.”

Ep1 Gary Pirrung (pt1)
http://eepurl.com/hnyno

Sitting down with Gary was an enlightening experience. Anyone who performs, especially those who make a living off of performing, will become wiser and encouraged after listening to Gary Pirrung talk about his climb to local celebritydom.
Listen Below
You have your weekend warriors, and then there’s Gary. It felt good pinpointing the components that drive his renewable popularity and staying power in the local music scene. Gary is a solid guitar player with a stand-out voice who understands the importance of respecting technique and consistent performance execution. He has that great raspy rock and roll lyric baritone voice, but the foundation of his overall product or act..is his guitar playing and loyalty to the spirit of the song. The other component that we talk about in the interview, which can be equally attributed to the Gary Pirrung experience, is the enjoyment and positive vibes he broadcasts when he plays. People are sensitive to that and the enjoyment is contagious.
Since first taping Pt 1 of this inteview, Gary has become a bit disenchanted with the brush that an other artist has painted him with and maybe my choice to stay neutral in the matter. In light of Gary’s honest public declaration “I play music for money,” I think the question about his material and the number of performances he does weekly is a fair question. There was far more positive commentary & praise in the Adam Jacobs interview from both myself AND Adam, than negative commentary. I respect Gary and his act. He writes his own music and nails covers that most wouldn’t dare try. Damian Knapp said in his interview with me..”I think Gary Pirrung does “Tree Top Flier” better than Stephen Stills.”
I look forward to Pt2 of the interview, and hope you’ll bear with me and excuse the cut off frankenstein recording that is Pt 1. Wireless Lapel michrophones are a BEAR!! Please sign up above to get the direct link to Pt 2. Thanks.
